Quickstart
From zero to your first cited answer in roughly five minutes. No card needed — new accounts start with $5 of free credit.
Sign in with GitHub, Google, or an email magic link. If you use more than one, they're linked automatically by your verified email — it's all the same account.
- Add a repository
From the dashboard, add a repo two ways:
- Install the GitHub App to add private or team repos. You pick exactly which repositories peek can see — nothing else is touched.
- Search public repos by name (e.g.
vercel/next.js) to add any public repository without installing anything.
The defaults are sensible — common build and dependency folders are excluded for you. You can fine-tune what's skipped later; see Working with repositories.
- Wait for the first index
A new repo moves through
pending→indexing→readywhile peek clones it and builds the atlas. This first pass is a one-time spend against your credit; you can ask questions the moment it turnsready. - Ask your first question
Tick the repo in the sidebar, type a real question — "where does authentication happen?", "what would it take to swap the queue for Redis?" — and send. The research team plans, gathers evidence, and streams back a synthesized answer with the source files cited inline. Hit Stop any time to cut a turn short.
- Plug it into your editor (optional)
Once a repo is indexed, any MCP-aware agent can query it directly. Follow Connect via MCP to mint a token and wire up Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.
